Wisden Cricket The Hobbs Era

Surrey County Cricket Club is reproducing a range of articles that have

appeared in Wisden Cricketers Almanack.

These small publications are being produced in limited edition sets of 300 each.

This piece was written in 1935 by Jack Hobbs on his retirement from

first-class cricket, when Wisden asked him to jot down some personal

impressions from his 30 years in the game. Intriguingly, Hobbs discusses

many issues that remain hot topics almost 80 years later.
